Kids’ Food Basket is excited once again to be a Fifth Third River Bank Run Charity Partner. For the past 10 years, KFB has been attacking childhood hunger in greater Grand Rapids. Currently, we are serving over 4,400 children nutritious Sack Suppers each weekday. These dinners contain a sandwich, a serving of a fresh fruit and vegetable, a 100% fruit juice box, and two healthy snacks (yogurt, cheese strings, trail mix). We are able to continue our mission because of the generosity of the Grand Rapids community who give their time, talents, and treasure. Thank you for your assistance in attacking childhood hunger!
One way that you can help KFB is by running the in the Fifth Third River Bank Run. While the race may be months away, it is never too early to sign up and start training for the race. Whether you are a walker or a marathon runner, we need your support. You can learn about running for KFB by visiting this link.

Last year, one member of our team went above and beyond. Katie Murtha pictured above raised $604.50 for Kids’ Food Basket, which means she and her supporters helped provide a Sack Supper to 604 kids. Katie finished the race in 2 hrs, 3 min and 59 secs...an 8-min per mile pace. She was 44th out of 430 women in her age division and 186th out of 2361 women overall. Her shirt features the names of all the people that supported her and Kids’ Food Basket, and a picture of her top supporter, her fiancé. Way to go Katie! Congratulations and thank you for being an amazing KFB advocate.
