Wish Child:
Krislyn from Saint Joseph is 18 and has been courageously battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This past April, Krislyn and her family traveled to the Bahamas for a vacation Krislyn had been dreaming about – even before Make-A-Wish entered her life. When cancer struck, those dreams helped Krislyn through difficult days and treatments. In April, her magical wish trip brought memories to last a lifetime.

Krislyn created a postcard to thank people who have guided and loved her throughout her journey. Krislyn sent her beautiful postcard and personal words of thanks following her wish. Here are heartfelt words from a beautiful and brave young woman.

My wish was….
“Unimaginable. I thought a place like this was only in my dreams.

There will never be words to describe how I felt when I walked off that plane or every morning I woke up. Being as sick and down as I was, I never thought I would be that happy, energized, happy, healthy again. Boy was I WRONG!!! The fresh warm air that blew off the sea and the sun that kissed my skin was my security blanket, my medicine. I never thought I would be able to go to a place like this, ever. Finally after almost 10 years of hoping and saying I wanted to go, I finally got to.

This trip turned everything around for me. I know now more than I ever did before that I will make it through this and be happy and healthy again.

Even being sick I could still do everything I wanted to do and much more. This trip was everything I needed, when I needed it. Knowing my parents got to come with me on my amazing (wish) trip and had the same amount of fun and happiness, it made my trip that much better!”
