From “Woes” to “Wows”!

The New Year has begun and if you’re like us it’s been a struggle to keep those resolutions! But, struggle doesn’t mean defeat and we are so excited that you have made the decision to run in the Fifth Third River Bank Run this coming May. If you haven’t heard, training runs have been scheduled during these next 5 months in order to help keep you in shape physically and mentally as you push on with your running resolutions! We’re inviting you to turn your running woes into running WOWs by joining with other runners like yourself and heading out to the training runs this season! Surprise yourself – you can do this!

The first training run of 2012 is Saturday, January 7th at 8am – it will be led by coaches from Gazelle Sports and will take place at the David D. Hunting YMCA (475 Lake Michigan Drive). We will be there after the run in bright green Alpha Women’s Center shirts so make sure you find us in the crowd or at our Celebration Station and sign up to partner with us this year in making Strides for Life!

Keeping Nature Nearby

The Land Conservancy of West Michigan is dedicated to protecting natural areas in eight west Michigan counties. Yes, natural areas such as those you may run through during the River Bank Run 25K. Yes, natural areas that promote clean water in our region. Yes, natural areas that provide habitat for numerous plants and wildlife.

The Land Conservancy relies on supporters like you to keep nature nearby, and we are honored to be a Charity Partner for the 2012 Fifth Third River Bank Run. We invite you to join us in our efforts to protect habitats of the Bald Eagle, the Blanchard’s Cricket Frog, and the Karner Blue Butterfly while running or walking through the great outdoors.

Why should you join the Land Conservancy team to participate in the Fifth Third River Bank Run? We’ll let three of our members explain their thoughts and how they plan to become involved.
