Meet Jeff, 37
Jeff has been inactive for 15.5 years, and thinks that a 15.5 mile goal could help him break that cycle. Jeff was an active and dedicated competitive swimmer in high school and college. Staying motivated and being competitive was all he knew back then, but life, work and family took priority after graduation and that life is a distant memory.
In 2007, Jeff broke his hip while helping get a car unstuck on an icy hill. It was 6 months before he could walk without crutches and another year before he had regained full flexibility. Although he eats well, recent blood test results from an annual physical have caused some concern; the results of a more sedentary lifestyle.
Jeff is a graphic designer and spends hours on end making other people look good. Now it is time for him to put forth the same effort into himself.
Favorite food:
Pizza.
Favorite cross-training activity:
Swimming, of course.
What is on your iPod?:
A wide mix from classical to heavy metal. None of which I listen to while running. I like to be alone with my thoughts.
Favorite thing to read:
I'm hooked on Calvin & Hobbes and Dilbert comics.
2010 goals:
To run 25K and then continue a pattern of exercise that becomes a part of my daily life.
