PUSH! PUSH! PUSH!

No…I am not giving birth. This past week at Health Motion Physical Therapy, Erin changed my gate/stride…I step out too far..blah blah blah..I am not “doing it right” right now.
So I have to think “push off with each step”..and “run like you are balancing a book on your head!”
I know that this is a GRAVE improvement..but it is faster and a lot more work..so I get winded faster..( 2 steps back?) But in the long run (no pun) it will keep my joints safer..and I will suffer less tears and knee and ankle crap.
So today (after not gettin much sleep due to a sick little dog).. I ran alone and not with my warriors…I ran 7 miles and it was kinda like interval training..I have to run as olng as I can with this new form…and then walk..and so on…
It wasn’t fun and my missed my team…but I know that I WILL get through this and get used to this new form…I have to say it is not as fun to have to “think” about your form when you run…But that is where I am.
Looking forward to seeing all of my fellow “warriors” tonight!
By the way my dog JJ is feeling better…but my entire house’s carpet is NOT!!

Michelle, it is awesome that you are so committed to yourself, your training, your team and this program! You are doing a great job!

Keep it up! You’ve made great progress so far in therapy and your training…just remember that training is the journey. If you need some inspiration, look up motivation quotes. I did that when I was training for my first marathon and it helped get me through some lonely runs!
“If you become restless, speed up. If you become winded, slow down. You climb the mountain in an equilibrium between restlessness and exhaustion.”

Michelle, I am also training for this grueling race. My mom listens to your program in the morning and laughs as she compares my stories to yours. I hope my knees, heels, and ankles bring me across the finish line! Thanks for the pointer on the stride, I’ll have to try that. Due to run 9 on Saturday, I am a week behind, had the flu all last weekend (ouch)
Sharing your pain,
Amy
