Feeling good

So, it has been a little over a week since I got back from Florida. While I was really worried about losing some of what I have been gaining by taking almost a week off, that has really not been the case. I ended up running a little over 14.5 miles on Saturday in under 1:55, and tonight I ran 4 miles at around 26:35ish, so overall I am feeling pretty good about where I am right now. I know I still have a ways to go, but I have overcome the hurdles so far.
I am also extremely excited that I could run in shorts the past two days! I am so glad that it is finally getting warmer out. While it wasn’t too bad of a winter (and who knows, we could still have another storm or two), I would much rather run outside in the 60’s than in the 20’s. Tonight was absolutely perfect weather for running with it being in the upper 40’s/low 50’s and no wind.
My next big goal is to finish the 2010 Spectrum Health Irish Jig in under 19 minutes. That would be by far my best 5k I have ever run, and it may be a bit of a stretch, but there is no harm in setting your goals high. It also pushes me to work harder to achieve that goal.
I hope everyone’s training is going great! I know many people are dealing with injuries right now, and so I wish you the best in your healing process and look forward to seeing you back out there soon!
