Road Warrior: It’s All About The Attitude

By Jack | March 10th, 2010 at 10:04 am | 2 comments

As we get closer and closer to the actual race day for the Fifth Third Riverbank Run, I keep finding myself thinking more and more of a devotion from Chuck Swindoll.

“I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress. It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitudes are right, there is no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me.”

- Charles R. Swindoll quote:

Now that the runs are getting longer and the miles start to add up, that quote takes on more meaning.  If I don’t have the right attitude when I leave the house for a run, I’m not going to go as far or push myself as hard.

On Saturday I ran another personal best.  I ran 8 miles with the Gazoom and RUNGR gang.  As I get to know more and more runners through this experience, I’m finding they all seem to have one thing in common.

Great attitudes.
